So you got yourself a brand new Wrangler JL, and you’re ready to do some of your first modifications? First, let me admit that I’m a little bit jealous. So congratulations on your purchase, but hopefully not jealous for too long because here at Motoroso, we are hoping to do a JL build soon. Subscribe to our channel at youtube.com/motoroso so you can see those videos when they come out. Now, if you spent the extra cash and got a Rubicon, you’ve got some of the best off-road capability out of the gate of any vehicle available on the road. Way to go! If you bought anything below the Rubicon, like a Base Sport or a Sahara, you’re going to need to put in a little bit of extra love and care into your mods to make sure that you get that extra off-road performance that you’re looking for.
Now, I’m sure this is no surprise to you, and it’s probably why you bought a Jeep Wrangler JL in the first place… but real Jeep owners DO NOT not drive a stock Wrangler (#NeverDriveStock). So, let’s talk about what are some of the top mods you should be considering, and some of the nuances to making those decisions.
All the mods that we talk about are available for purchase at www.motoroso.com, where you can browse over 1,000,000 of the top name brand products. There you can reach us on live chat, or call us toll free at 1.833.MOTOROSO (1.833.668.6767). We’re always here to help you with your mods and project builds!
Lift Kit for 2019+ Jeep Wrangler
The first mod that any JL owner is going to be looking at is going to be a lift kit. This may be no surprise to you, but this is going to give you extra ground clearance and suspension travel, and the ability to fit the bigger wheels and tires we discussed above. Suspension kits come from mild to wild. You can go as crazy as you want.
The better suspension kits are going to include upgraded shocks, which are one of the most important upgrades you can do on any vehicle. Especially on a Jeep, because shocks take a really wicked beating out on the trail Some of the features that you’re looking for in a shock are going to be definitely a larger shock body so that it has larger valves and can handle more fluid, and things like remote or piggyback reservoirs which helps with cooling and control of the shock. Adjustments like rebound damping and compression damping, will allow you to tune that shock to perform exactly the way you want it to, no matter what terrain you’re tackling.
See our section below on Fender Flares, which can be used to clearance larger tires WITHOUT the need for a lift kit.
We have 100’s of Lift Kit options at www.motoroso.com, reach us on Live Chat or call toll free at 1.833.MOTOROSO. Here’s a just a few options:

What Size Tires Can You Fit on Your 2019+ Jeep Wrangler?
Now that you’ve got your suspension ride, height and performance all sorted out, you’re ready for bigger wheels and tires. There’s no way you’re going to leave those stock wheels on your new Jeep, and your options here are literally limitless. But what size tire can you fit?
If you’ve got a Rubicon, then with a simple 2-inch lift, you can fit up to a 37-inch tire. And the gearing/axles on the Rubicon can handle that.
But if you have any model other than the Rubicon, the maximum tire size you’re gonna want to consider is going to be a 35 inch tire because the limitation is the gearing/axle. On a non-rubicon, you can fit up to a 34-inch tire with a two-inch lift kit, and up to 35-inch tires with a 4 inch lift.
Choosing a Tire Type: All-Terrains Versus Mud Terrains
How do you choose tires? Well, one of the most important considerations for you is how much highway driving are you going to be doing and how much off-road driving you’re going to be doing, because some Mud Terrain tires can come specifically for off-road only, and they won’t last more than 10-20k miles on the road. They’ll perform great off-road but you’ll wear through them too quickly if you’re doing any highway driving. And then the alternate is true. If you’re not going to be doing a ton of off-roading, the consider an All-Terrain tire that’s going to last on the highway, performam pretty well offroad and looks great.
We offer 100’s of options for All-Terrain and Mud Tires at https://www.motoroso.com/c/automotive-tires.
