Precision 11918 Turbo Upgrade for 2016 – 2018 Ford Focus RS – With Video

The new Ford Focus RS launched in 2015 and quickly became one of the most sought after hatchbacks on the market. Ford developed a 2.3 liter EcoBoost inline four-cylinder engine, and of course EcoBoost means that it’s turbocharged. They’ve managed to tune that to 350 horsepower and 350 foot pounds of torque, which is a god-awful amount of power to get out of a little four-banger! In addition to the power upgrades over the ST, they also pushed all of that power through an all-wheel drive system, making it one of the hottest hatchbacks available. That said, at Motoroso.com we highly recommend that you “#NeverDriveStock”. And one of the most Epic mods you can possibly do on any RS would be a turbo upgrade kit. So today we’re talking about the Precision Turbo 11918 Turbo Upgrade Kit!

This is direct drop-in replacement for your stock turbo. It installs with no modifications to mounting hardware, plumbing, or wiring. The kit comes with everything you need, and this is plug-and-play horsepower that can generate racecar level performance. The precision turbo kit is actually fairly simple. It comes with the upgraded turbo, a high flow inlet tube, and then all the hoses, clamps, gaskets, and hardware that you need to do the install. Now, typically the turbonetics kits are pretty DIY friendly, but on the focus RS, that turbo is pretty well hidden in there. So the motor does have to come out, making it a much more complex installation. So it’s about a half a day install for a professional and at least a full day for a first time DIYer. So for that reason, our recommendation would be probably to ensure everything’s done right, get it done by a pro with the kit installed and a modest tune.

How To Get 600WHP From Your Focus RS

You can pretty easily push your RS to the low 400 horsepower range and keep a pretty high level of reliability. But this kit is capable of going up to 600 horsepower, almost double what you get from the factory. That’s a lot of juice for your Focus RS and you’re going to need some supporting mods to make that happen. If you really want to get the most out of it and push it to the absolute max you’re going to want to do upgraded injectors, ignition coils, definitely an upgraded intercooler, and maybe even an E85 conversion. And if you’re going to push it to the edge like that, you’re probably going to want to also do upgraded connecting rods and pistons. And if you’ve already got the motor out for the turbo install, and you’re going to go that far with the tune, we just recommend you do it right from the start.

Precision Turbo Engineering

Now, you may be wondering how the Precision Turbo kit getting such massive gains overstock? Well, some really sciencey people who are much smarter than I am have designed in some important features.
– There’s a divided twin scroll turbine housing, that improves your throttle response.
– There’s a ported shroud compressor housing for low RPM performance.
– They’ve designed high efficiency compressor and turbine wheels paired with dual ceramic ball-bearings that make a killer combination of efficiency and durability.

All that just adds up to way more power and way more throttle response across the entire powerband. So if you’re looking for a kit that retains your factory warranty, I’m not sure you’re going to find that, and this is definitely not going to be the kit for you. But if you’re doing this level of modification, you’re probably not thinking about your factory warranty anyway. The nice thing about this kit from Precision Turbo is that it comes with a one year no-fault, no-hassle warranty, which is really nice to have in your back pocket.
