2016 Highlights

Last January, the 2016 NAIAS featured 61 vehicle introductions, a majority of which were worldwide debuts. These are the highlights of the 2016 NAIAS.

The Buick Avista concept received the EyesOn Design Award for Design Excellence – Concept Car at a ceremony at the North American International Auto Show. It was the second consecutive year Buick received the award, which was bestowed on the Avenir concept in 2015.

Nissan has used the backdrop of the 2016 North American International Auto Show to reveal its Titan Warrior Concept full-size truck, even as the automaker strives to gain ground in what is one of the most competitive (and profitable) vehicle markets in North America. The vehicle is said to embody what Nissan is calling “modern armor”.

Some 32 years after what its manufacturer called the “invention of a category,” Chrysler has done a complete reboot of the minivan with the introduction of the Pacifica as well as a hybrid version that boasts 80 mpg, both at the 2016 North American International Auto Show.

2017 Lincoln Continental - 2016 NAIAS

The Lincoln Motor Co. revealed its all-new luxurious 2017 Continental Monday at a world premiere at the 2016 North American International Auto Show. The Continental has a 3.0-liter V6 engine with twin turbochargers that produces a projected 400 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque.

Lexus staged the world premiere of the Lexus LC 500 luxury coupe at the 2016 North American International Auto Show, a production model that is based directly on the LF-LC concept car that the brand debuted at NAIAS in 2012. The LC 500 won best production car at the annual Eyes on Design awards ceremony.

2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class - 2016 NAIAS

The 10th generation E-Class made its debut at the 2016 North American International Auto Show. The car took a global team 48 months to fully develop, and it offers buyers a plug-in hybrid version. Its body shell is said to have more aluminum and steel components than its predecessor, making it noticeably more lightweight.

BMW M2 Coupe - 2016 NAIAS

BMW introduced the all-new M2 at the 2016 North American International Auto Show. The first-ever M2 features the renowned BMW M performance complimented by a sleek interior and exterior design. It churns out 365 bHP and 343 lb-ft of torque with its newly developed M TwinPower Turbo engine.
