Stevenson Motorsports swept the top of the GS class podium, in last Friday's IMSA Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race at Sebring, driving their pair of Camaro Z/28.Rs on Forgeline one piece forged monoblock GS1R wheels to a 1-2 finish. But on the way to victory, they had to dodge this rogue cast aluminum wheel (NOT a Forgeline!) that had self-destructed, ejected itself from a fellow competitor's ST class car, and rolled onto the racing line. This dangerous situation should serve as a lesson: Just because some marketing department slaps the term "racing wheel" onto the box, it does NOT magically make a wheel suitable for real racing applications. Please do your homework and make sure that you choose wheels that are engineered and manufactured to safely carry you to the finish line in one piece. Choose wisely, and you might even get there first!
