A clash of the titans? It was an epic battle between Forgeline-equipped teams at this past weekend’s Pirelli World Challenge Championship 2017 GTS season finale, at Sonoma Raceway. In Saturday’s race, Ian James qualified on the pole and went flag to flag up front to earn his sixth win of the 2017 season in the #50 Panoz Avezzano on Forgeline one piece forged monoblock GS1R wheels. James then started on the pole again for Sunday’s race, and led most of the way -- until a restart on lap 15, when Lawson Aschenbach made a pass to claim the lead, which he held through lap 18 (when the race was halted early due an on-track accident). Aschenbach was awarded the win, his second of the 2017 season, and officially earned the 2017 GTS-class driver championship (the third of his career), the 2017 GTS-class team championship (for Blackdog Speed Shop), and the 2017 GTS-class manufacturer championship (for Chevrolet) with his #10 Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R on Forgeline one piece forged monoblock GS1R wheels!
