Have you ever stopped to consider how different tire types affect the force applied to your wheels? Stickier tire compounds result in more cornering traction which translates to more load upon the wheel. And failing to consider the multiplied loads from high performance track tires could create a hazard for you and your vehicle. So at the 2015 SEMA Show, Harrop Engineering's Heath Moore explored the issue of load ratings with Forgeline president Dave Schardt and discovered that Forgeline marks each wheel with three different load ratings to account for varying friction coefficients among different tire types (street tire, performance tire, and race tire). Calculating and providing this data better enables Forgeline customers to choose the correct wheel for their intended application and performance demands.
